Field Trip to Prani – The Pet Sanctuary

A field trip to Prani – The Pet Sanctuary, which is located in Somanahalli, was organized for the students of class IX as part of the SUPW and Community Service activity. The students were made to assemble in the campus of Prani – The Pet Sanctuary for briefing by Mr. Sanjeev, the director of the organization. He explained the working of the NGO and interacted with the children. He also introduced the staff to the children. Students were made into 3 groups and each group had an instructor from Prani – The Pet Sanctuary. The different enclosures, the Rodent enclosure, The Horse enclosure, The Emu enclosure and the Flying Birds enclosure were introduced to the students. The students were allowed to touch most of the animals and birds and were taught how to handle them. An interaction was held with the director of the Sanctuary.He was very happy with the behaviour of students with the animals in the Prani campus. He also mentioned that Mitra was the first school to have visited the place.The duo plan to be associated with the organization for a year long. A Reflection session was conducted by the director where students shared their experiences there. The students responded very positively and are looking forward to the upcoming visits to the organization.
