Characters on Stick Activity – Std. III to Std. V
Characters on stick activity was conducted on 6.7.18 keeping in mind the benefits of puppetry. Hand Puppets are an ideal springboard for developing speaking and listening skills. It is a universal truth that children often communicate more easily with puppets, giving them confidence to express their ideas and feelings. It gives an opportunity for children who are not very confident to feel free and become acquainted with others through the roles they take on. With a puppet in their hand it helped children to explore and enact new personalities, broadening their own understanding in the process. Some students came up with scary animal hand puppets like lions and sharks or shy ones such as tortoise that helped children master abstract feelings. On the whole the ‘Characters on Stick’ activity provided an opportunity to the students to gain control over their world by allaying their fears and frustrations.
